Newfund 2023 Action Plan
Every year, Newfund analyzes the gender diversity in our dealflow at each stage of the investment process. This serves the purpose to ensure that there is no bias in our selection method.
As the Newfund report shows, startups co-founded by at least one woman saw almost identical processing trends as all opportunities we received in 2022. This suggests that our dealflow doesn’t feature structural gender bias. At the same time, only 11% of received deals featured a woman co-founder, which highlights the overall lack of women in Tech.
In an effort to drive female entrepreneurship, Newfund has come up with an action plan aimed at encouraging the number of women in the startup ecosystem:
- In 2023, at least 25% of first appointments should be conducted with startups co-founded by a woman, which is twice as many as in 2022.
- Based on our current dealflow, this means that 1 in 2 women will be able to present their project to Newfund.
Our 2023 Action Plan represents an effort to empower women in tech. While Newfund has no power over the number of deals we receive, our action plan will encourage more women to consider entrepreneurship as a career option. Together, let us champion diversity, embrace equality, and reshape the landscape of venture capital to ensure that every brilliant idea, regardless of gender, receives the opportunity it deserves.
